Ultrachem Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Fuchs Lubricants Co., located in Wilmington, DE, is a leading premium synthetic lubricants manufacturer specializing in a wide-range of compressor lubricants, vacuum pump oils and other specialty niche synthetic industrial fluid products.  



Your responsibilities:

The Buyer plays a crucial part in the supply chain by developing and maintaining relationships with new and existing suppliers to ensure best price and quality of raw materials. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for purchasing raw materials, packaging components and all indirect materials & services.
  • Generate and deploy purchase orders, blanket orders and material releases on a daily basis.
  • Reschedule & expedite materials as required. Communicate all schedule changes to avoid production delays.
  • Supplier management to include negotiating contracts, monitoring and reporting supplier performance
  • Monitor the procurement market of key raw materials categories.
  • Comparison of local and global prices.
  • Collaborate with R&D on identifying new or alternative materials for evaluation.
  • Develop RFQ’s, negotiate and monitor pricing as applicable.
  • Develop and maintain supplier relationships.
  • Researching and communicating market place updates to management.



Qualifications we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering preferred. Chemical industry experience in lieue of a degree will be considered.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a buyer or purchasing role in a manufacturing environment, chemical industry preferred.
  • Experience negotiating pricing and contracts preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking, and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency. Must be able to create and update reports in Excel.
  • Strong working knowledge of SAP or other ERP systems (JD Edwards, etc.) to include setting up vendors, researching purchase history, and updating pricing.
  • Applicable certificates desired (CPM, Six Sigma, etc.).
