Production Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY:

Directs and coordinates the schedule and activities concerned with production and quality control of company products manufactured in the OEM Grease Plant at the Harvey, IL facility. This is a leadership position in the facility responsible for all of the personnel who are involved with the production and packaging of materials in the plant.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Coordinates and supervises the daily, weekly, and monthly activities of the production operators.

Confers with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards, develop budget and cost controls, and to obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.

Conducts employee safety/communication meetings as required.

Ensures that all Team Members follow Fuchs safety policies, work rules, and S.O.P.s.

Coordinates production activities with customer service, outside warehouses, procurement and maintenance to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.

Reviews and analyzes production and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications, and operating or production problems, and implements improvements to prevent recurrence.

Provide and/or coordinate training for team members and assist in the continuous development of the training program.

Consults with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products.

Administers performance appraisals in a prompt and professional manner

Plans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.

Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.

Revises production schedules and priorities as result of equipment failure or operating problems.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

This position manages 7 production operators and 1 maintenance mechanic and is responsible for the daily production, scheduling, and coordination of manufacturing activity at the plant. In completing these duties, the individual carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, training employees, directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees.

QUALIFICATIONS:

BS in Chemistry or Engineering.

5+ years of manufacturing supervisory experience in a chemical plant, preferably batch manufacturing

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Proven ability to manage change within a group and build strong interdependent teams

Good mechanical aptitude and strong equipment/process control troubleshooting skills

Experience with reactive chemistry and control systems

Excellent analytical skills and ability to work independently

Experience with applicable EPA and OSHA regulations (PSM is a plus)

Experience with SAP is a plus

Strong computer skills with emphasis on data analysis.

Experience with working in visual factory environment with strong housekeeping standards
