Your responsibilities:

The Automation Engineer will utilize technology to come up with innovative manufacturing ideas and technology to monitor and control our operations to deliver quality, improve efficiency, and reduce complexity.  The successful person will oversee, design, install, repair, and fix automation equipment and systems that will allow the company to produce products effectively and efficiently.  The Automation Engineer will educate and train employees to use the technology effectively.  This will require spending some time in the field troubleshooting new and existing installations.

 

Specific responsibilities incude:

  • Learn current control system designs, learn industry code requirements as related to the design of control systems, design hardware for new controllers, design and implement programs for new controllers.
  • Write and debug PLC control programs
  • Troubleshoot various control systems on field installations
  • Collaborate with internal departments including information technology, engineering, and operations to drive advanced technologies to increase efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
  • Plan, design, implement, and manage integrated production systems that assure performance, reliability, maintainability, schedule adherence, and cost control. These systems will integrate people, information, equipment, processes, and energy throughout the life cycle of the product.
  • Participate in production and department meetings.
  • Be very familiar with lean and six sigma methodologies.
  • Must be able to implement SPC for variable and attribute data processes.
  • Apply statistical methods and perform product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
  • Evaluate and validate internal SOP’s and Specifications and other documents related to the adequate process systems functioning.
  • Evaluate and solve production system problems.
  • Train personnel or conduct training to introduce new system processes when needed.

 

Qualifications we are looking for:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is preferred or related manufacturing field or computer systems experience.
  • Minimum two years of computer systems or electrical or mechanical engineering experience
  • High level of knowledge in PLC systems and programming.
  • Strong knowledge of variable speed motor control including Variable Frequency Drives (VFD)
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-directed, self-starter
