Operations Manager Perth

We have an exciting role that has become available as the Perth Operations Manager, based at our Perth Distribution facility and reporting to the National Warehouse and Logistics Manager at our head office in Melbourne.


The role is a is a hands-on position with responsibility to lead and manage a small team managing the Perth warehouse operations. Key areas of responsibility include Safety, People Management, Warehouse & Logistics Operations. This role needs to work closely with internal stakeholders such as warehousing & logistics management, planning, sales, and customer service to ensure site service levels are meeting the needs of our customer centric organisation. Key to the role is the ability to drive a safety culture, be well organised and planned to execute inbound and outbound volumes to meet our customer service offer.

Your areas of responsibility:

  • Manage inbound and outbound activity, warehousing, and storage operations.
  • Co-ordinating distribution activities daily.
  • Inventory Management and Stock Control, including cycle counting, branch transfers, bulk management of tanks and planning for supply and stock levels. 
  • Non-stock purchases required for general requirements of the site.
  • Develop, and maintain working relationships with internal departments, suppliers and where appropriate, Customers, including communication and collaborating with all divisions.
  • Coordinate transport scheduling and manage returnable assets.
  • Staff and performance management, mentoring and compliance consistent with the Fuchs Values.
  • Coach and lead team members to improve performance and culture.
  • Ensure all personnel are trained and competent for assigned tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with Chain of Responsibility codes and practices.
  • Oversee pallet management and security and environmental matters.
  • Maintaining quality and safety standards, including annual audits.
  • Investigate and resolve safety issues, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are taken.
  • Conduct safety toolboxes and assist in safety-related communications.
  • Facility maintenance and housekeeping - oversee the planned maintenance of building, staff amenities, vehicles, machinery, equipment and site security.
  • General management of the site with a continuous improvement mindset and focus on financial outcomes.
  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practices.
  • Identify and implement initiatives for operational and financial improvement.
  • Ensure carrier compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Drive continuous improvement through process reporting, automation, and digitalisation.

Qualifications we are looking for:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Warehousing &/or Transport Operations environment with Supply Chain related Qualification.
  • Extensive operational background comprising of on-the-job training, work experience, administrative systems and specific skills development.
  • Direct staff management experience including leadership, negotiation, and communication skills; with practical industrial relations management experience.
  • Computer literacy is required, particularly an understanding and working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Good working knowledge of SAP advantageous.
  • Direct experience with dangerous goods, bulk liquid and packaged goods freight handling and storage practices.
  • Understanding and application of budgeting and finance systems.
  • CoR training and experience as relating to WA and HVNL.
  • APICs certification or equivalent would be favourably viewed.
  • Good working knowledge of SAP advantageous.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance requirementsAttention to detail and desire to deliver quality outputs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Great at developing a vision for the team and then working with the team to deliver on the vision.
  • Enjoy working with autonomy whilst ensuring adequate internal communication.
